Mom Cooking's Basics

Healthy eating should be seen as something enjoyable and not merely a list of foods which should  not be eaten. One of the commonest mistakes when trying to eat healthily is to cut down, or cut out, the so-called less healthy foods without finding something satisfying to replace them. Treating food in this way simply turns eating  into a punishment rather than a pleasure. Instead it is better, at first, to eat more of those which you already eat which are good for you so that you have less room for the foods you wish to cut down on. Next, you begin to experiment with less familiar foods, making those which you like an increasingly important part of your diet. Having a new baby is one of the commonest incentives for rethinking old eating habits and starting afresh.
